The founder of Smith & Bradley, Jerommie Smith, was a Chicago law enforcement officer for over 17 years. During that time, he destroyed countless watches. Finally, he decided to create a better watch. A watch that wouldn't be destroyed while he was on his shift.
The SANS-13 is the 13th iteration of that original watch. It was created after hundreds of hours of interviews with law enforcement officers. It's been tweaked and updated numerous times. This version is our most popular watch of all time and continues to serve police officers throughout the United States. It's the flagship watch of Smith & Bradley for a reason.
When you wear a SANS-13 watch, you're wearing an exceptional watch designed to perform in even the toughest circumstances. This is a watch designed to last a lifetime, even if you're in law enforcement. And you're getting a watch that celebrates the men and women who protect us daily.
We use the term "Tactical Watch" to refer to watches designed to perform in tactical situations. To be tactical, a watch must have several features:
Tough. The watch has to be designed to take direct hits without incurring damage. In tactical situations, you can't assume a watch will be protected. We typically use stainless steel and sapphire crystal in tactical watches. These materials can take a beating and still look great.
Waterproof. All of our tactical watches are equal to dive watches. They can take up to 300 meters of water without a hitch. This is because in tactical situations you might have to dive in deep.
Not easily lost. We typically use NATO watch straps or stainless steel watch bands for tactical watches. These types of watch bands won't lose your watch or fall apart in a tough, tactical situation.
But easily hideable. In a tactical situation, you don't need a watch to give away your position. So our tactical watches are easily hidden away and don't feature lights or bright luminescence that might open you up to exposure. They are also designed to be comfortably worn inside the wrist as well. Important in some situations.
Our SANS-13 watches are designed and built in the USA. We use international materials (Swiss movements, German steel) to get the maximum value from each watch, but believe they have to be built here to control the quality levels.
All of our watches include a Lifetime Warranty, which we call the Unstoppable Guarantee. Because we construct each watch to last a lifetime, we are comfortable guaranteeing it for yours. We stand behind everything we make at Smith & Bradley.
This watch includes a NATO watch strap. We are partial to NATO watch bands because they can withstand water, sweat and blood. They will hold onto your watch even if they get cut. You can read more about NATO watch straps here. And yes, NATO bands are easily changed out. We offer several other colors/styles of NATO straps here. Any 22mm watch band will fit this watch.
Our SANS-13 watches use a Swiss Quartz movement. You can read why we use Swiss movements here. Simply put, they are the best movements available and last much longer than others. It's a high quality watch that we price at a very reasonable amount. This watch does utilize a battery, but the battery is expected to last for five years. We offer a battery replacement service as well.
Our watches primarily ship via UPS and arrive quickly - typically within two business days of your order .We ship every SANS-13 in a nice Smith & Bradley watch case that is navy with grey on the inside. It's a beautiful way to receive a nice watch and provides you with an easy way to store your watch safely. The watch will also include a card of instructions and warranty information (our lifetime warranty).
